About the Owner

Karen Horton, Landscape Designer and Owner of Avant-Garden Designs has been in operation in the greater Tulsa area since 2004, and has also designed and installed multiple gardens in Dallas, TX. You might recognize Karen’s habitat garden which has been on several local tours!

Karen's grandmother instilled in her the love of gardening during the summers she spent with her in the country. This love drove her to pursue studies at Oklahoma State University Extension to become a Master Gardener. Karen has vast horticultural knowledge and many years of study in the field of design and plant materials (she knows where plants will thrive)! The tricky Oklahoma climate, which can be challenging for the average homeowner is no match for Karen!
